Traveled back to CRW this morning. Visited with Uncle John/Punky and then Clara Faye/Barbara Ruth. Took a late flight out CRW to CHI O'Hare.
The Westin Mich Ave comped me into the Presidential Suite this week. What an awesome place!
It snowed about 2 inches overnight. The weather is very cold.
WVU played Temple today in their final homegame of 2003. Lyndon, his friend Jordan, and I went to the game. Tailgating with the Hoskinsons and crew was enjoyable. We all braved the cold including flurries during the first half and falling temps during the second half. All bathrooms were overly crowded -- that is the only heated area! Our seats were 50 yard line, 2nd row up! Photographs from the game are here.
WVU won, 45-28, sending them to the Gator bowl and a rematch with Maryland.
Aunt Dona made a great dinner afterwards.
Oh what a rainy day in WV! The gparents went to town - library, grocery shopping, hair cuts, etc.
Today is Thanksgiving. Our t-day feast was at Jim Reid's. They served all the traditional foods - turkey, prime rib, ham, stuffing, vegitables, etc. Dad left for home afterwards; Doug went back to skin his deer. The rest of us visited the Stewarts.
Traveled CHI to CRW (Charleston, WV). Rented a car (Mustang/Hertz) and drove via I-77/79 to Horner. Arrived at the GParents around 6:30PM. Joe/Jack were there loading their Deer.
Joe's Sports Bar, North Ave. has been recommended as a good eatery in Chicago.
From Downtown: Take LaSalle, Clark or Dearborn Street North to North Avenue. Turn left on North Avenue. Go to Sheffield Avenue and turn left. Go 1 block to stop sign, which is Weed Street. Turn left on Weed Street. Joe's is on your left-hand side.
Chicago magazine recommends these top three restaurants: Everest, Charlie's Trotters, Trio.
Traveling back to TPA today.
Bucs Deactivate Keyshawn:
The National Football League Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers deactivated outspoken wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson on Tuesday.
Johnson has been excused from all team-related functions and will be inactive for the Buccaneers' six remaining games. Buccaneers general manager Rich McKay said Johnson has made it clear he has no intention of wanting to stay with the team after the 2003 season, and that his approach and actions were having a negative impact on the squad.
Dinner tonight was at Luccianos on Rush.
Traveled today to Chicago. I sat beside an attorney on the flight. He recommended Petterinos on 150 North Dearborn, Chicago. Lauren and I went there tonight - dinner was quite good. The restaurent is in the Goodman Theatre.
Watched the Bucs play the Packers today at Raymond James in Tampa. The photo gallery is presented here. Remember that ALL pictures are Copyright (c) 2003 Justin Hall.
Bucs lost 20-13 effectively ending their season. So much for a repeat year.
Watched Jen's little brothers and sisters play soccer today. Brandon/Andrew had 2 games; the girls had 1 together. Photos are available upon request.
Back home to TPA. Flight 417 was delayed 45 minutes out of Detroit. The A&E film crew [filming a SWA reality show] was in the airport. I captured a snapshot of them at B15 - waiting for a flight to BWI. See this photo and others in the Chicago Il photo gallery.
Still looking for a Canon 70-200mm f2.8 L lens. There is one on Ebay ending tonight...
Took off for Chicago this evening. Was scheduled to go in the AM but a client database outage forced me to work that first.
Back to TPA; the flight was uneventful. I'm researching quality lenses for my digital SLR.
Dinner tonight was at Thyme - a recommendation by a colleague. Thyme is located on N Halstead/Grand, just across the river. The rabbit tasted like chicken, really. The duck breast was sweet (however very good).
Dinner tonight was at Marche's on Randolph. The lamb shank was perfect. Its meet fell off the bone. A colleague's filet special was salty but flavorable, juicy, and highly recommended. Steer clear of the fish - acceptable but you can purchase better elsewhere.
Services at Tabernacle [Tabernacle The, (434) 822-6100, 1978 S Boston Rd, Danville, VA 24540] aren't unique but are presented with quality and genuineness. An atmosphere of sociability prevails.
Afterwards, Greg and I toured downtown Danville. Main St. is limping along. The anchor stores are high-end clothing retailers and doctor's offices. Millionaire's Row stands apart with its older, colonial, brick and stone two-story homes. The town is divided by the Dan River. It is a foul, dirty waterway. Outside of the city limits sits Goodyear. This campus is vast and includes their own golf course!
Lori prepared a great dinner (thanks Lori!) which wrapped up my weekend in VA/NC.
Flights back to ORD were delayed due to weather. I hung out at the USAir lounge and watched the 'Skins play.
I learned how out-of-shape I am. Tabernacle hosted their annual Turkey Bowl event. Four plus hours of flag football is tiring! Dinner was provided in the evening. Tabernacle has a fine group of guys and gals. Needless to say, they have some darn good athletes. PHOTO ALBUM. Check out the photographs in the online gallery - more playing with my Canon EOS Rebel Digital.
