Christmas 98 I received a pair of Dynastar Max2 skis. After the first few runs at Canaan Valley I fell in love with them. The parabolic shape, coupled with their intermediate flex make them responsive to carving and damped on high speed runs.
If you ski and are yet without parabolic ski's, let me encourage you to rent a pair and see for yourself the difference. Parabolic skis, like the Dynastar Max2, make carving as easy as bending your ankles. The Dynastar Max2's are a intermediate-advanced ski. (Meaning: their side cut is less, and the flex more than a pro/racing ski. They have a lightweight, Wood/Composite core.) The pair I own are 170 cm in length.
My choice for new ski's came down to the Dynastar's, K2-3, Solomon X-Free9's or Rossignol 10.4. I have read that almost all are the same and fit the same class of skier that I am (intermediate-advanced).
Here is Dynastar's Writeup of the Max2: The Max 2 is a softer, easier going version of the Max
One—so the ski turns easily, but it carves on hard snow. It’s designed to make skiing easier for
advanced skiers who ski a wide variety of terrain...the Max 2 delivers more performance with less work.
